Penitre had an incredible tour, but the show in Southampton was on another level, and the crowd was immense! A sold-out show at Heartbreakers in the heart of the city really showed that Southampton does it differently.
An excellent 16-song setlist, which included songs that made the crowd jump, shout and sway, really set Heartbreakers alight, and I am sure it is a show the band will never forget.
The indie four-piece, who were brought up on artists such as Stereophonics, The Killers and Paulo Nutini, opened with their brilliant tune, “Have You Had Enough”, and then expertly went into “I Won’t Waste Your Time”. Making sure the Southampton crowd was ready to party. Their indie/pop riffs get the crowd going every time, and despite being a Thursday night, the crowd at Heartbreakers responded brilliantly.
Frontman Jack Morgan brought the energy, which was matched by Owen Seymour on guitar and Jacob Beswetherick on bass. Despite the heat making playing their tunes a bit sweatier, Jake Weaver on drums smashed his solos, and his skill with the sticks was electric. The band ended with their HUGE hit “Spinning”, which was the perfect ending to an amazing night in Southampton.
The lads are back out on tour next year, with shows in London and Bristol taking place in March. Whilst we wait for their next tour, we will continue to stream their songs, AS SHOULD YOU.
